Eight months after a joint meeting with the Davenport Civil Rights Commission and the City Council, commissioners again are asking for resolutions to their executive director’s concerns. Members of the city council, civil rights commission, the civil rights director, the city administrator and the city attorney met Tuesday for almost an hour and a half to air and address continued friction between the civil rights director and other city staff.

The city of Bettendorf is planning to install cameras underneath the Interstate 74 bridge to help solve property crime and protect against more serious threats of terrorism. Eight cameras are slated to be installed underneath the Bettendorf side of the I-74 bridge that will give the police department eyes on the paths underneath as well as on Leach Park and the lots on either side of the bridge. The state already has cameras that monitor traffic on the bridge.

A Father's Day bicycle ride that showcases the riverfront will be at a new location this year — the trails and historical buildings of Arsenal Island. Organized by River Action, the new twist on Ride the River helps celebrate the U.S. Army's 250th birthday in 2025. The 10-mile route for "Ride the Island" will depart from the Quad-City Times parking lot in Davenport, cross the Government Bridge and enter the arsenal at the Davenport gate.
