    A young Gazan artist known for her hauntingly beautiful portraits of people killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) was herself killed on 12 April by an Israeli airstrike, according to Quds News Network. Dina Khaled Zaurub reportedly died when the strike, on a displaced persons camp located west of Khan Yunis in Southern Gaza, hit the tent where she and her family had taken shelter. She was 22-years-old. Tributes to the artist poured in from around the world.

    The administration of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) shut down a pro-Palestinian student exhibition held on campus last week. The exhibition, To Every Orange Tree, was organised by the school’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (RISD SJP) and Carr Haus Café, a student-run café that is accessible to the public. The show, which opened on 17 March, featured the work of over 20 artists, including both current students and alumni.

    Dorgham Quraiqi, a newly married 28-year-old Palestinian artist working with the UK-based charity Hope and Play, was killed alongside his wife and brothers when Israeli airstrikes hit the ruins of their home in Gaza City’s Shuja’iya neighbourhood, where they were sheltering. The couple and their relatives were killed in the early hours of 18 March as Israel launched intense surprise bombardments across Gaza, shattering a two-month ceasefire.

    One of Gaza’s first contemporary art collectives, whose space in Gaza City was destroyed by bombing in December 2023, has been given a show in Dubai. The exhibition, titled Eltiqa: How to Work Together?, opened last month at the Jameel Arts Centre and includes more than 180 works by six of the founding members of Eltiqa Group for Contemporary Art: Mohammed al-Hawajri, Mohamed Abusal, Abdel Raouf al-Ajouri, Raed Issa, Dina Matar and Sohail Salem.
