The North Platte GPH Seniors lost to Hastings 6-5 in extra innings on Wednesday in Hastings. Easton Jones, Jaxon Peters and Kade Songster each had a hit, and Jones and Tyler Townsend each drove in a run. Jacoby Silos tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two. Caden Joneson pitched the last 1 1/3 innings, giving up three runs — two earned — on three hits and two walks.

The North Platte 80s scored four runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Trinidad Triggers 7-4 in the first game of a three-game series on Thursday at Bill Wood Field. “Tonight, we jumped out early,” North Platte coach Todd Everleth said. “We let them creep back in, but you know, Trevor did a great job getting us to the sixth inning. Nestor came in right out of Boston, off a plane and onto the mound. It was a tough outing I think for him. A lot of pressure just coming off a plane.

The North Platte boys basketball team is hosting the Platte Valley Basketball Skills Camp from 9-11 a.m. June 9-11 at the North Platte High School gym. The camp is open for youth players, both boys and girls, going into third through fifth grades. The cost is $45, and parents can register at the door. Love Funny Wow Sad Angry

McCook 5, North Platte 1Maddux Hernandez tossed a near-complete game, but McCook scored three runs in the seventh inning to win the second game of the doubleheader 5-1. “Maddux is one of our dogs,” North Platte coach Anthony Hinde said.
