    January 15, 2025 | January 2025 is a big month for Drupal. On January 5, 2025, we saw the end of life for Drupal 7, and now we welcome the 1.0 release of Drupal CMS. Many Drupal 7 site builders and marketers are bidding farewell to a CMS that has served them well for over a decade.     Capital Bike is encouraging Greater Victoria residents to choose cycling as a way to get around the region during "Go By Bike Week," which runs from May 29 to June 4. "We just encourage folks to get out and try a trip by bike," said Capital Bike events manager Jordan Glowicki. "Maybe you go to work, to school or maybe a trip you would have done with a car." The annual week-long event kicked off at a "celebration station" at Esquimalt’s Archie Browning Sports Centre on Monday.

    VICTORIA – A donation of more than $21,000 to the Burnside Gorge Community Association will help support families make ends meet and send 30 kids to camp this summer. The community association will put $14,622 of the donation towards a food hamper program for neighbourhood families. The program supports 50 families with fresh fruit and vegetables during the late spring and early summer months.

    The history, culture and traditions of Greater Victoria’s Chinese community will be celebrated in Canada’s oldest Chinatown on Sunday. The Awakening Chinatown festival showcases the important contributions made to Canada and B.C. by Victoria’s Chinese community for more than 160 years. This is the second year the Victoria Chinese Museum Society (VCMS) has hosted the one-day festival in Victoria’s Chinatown.

    VICTORIA – The federal government announced Wednesday its plan to invest almost $11 million to support cycling and pedestrian infrastructure improvement projects on Vancouver Island. At the University of Victoria, close to $2.4 million will go towards active transportation projects within the universities’ Campus Cycling Plan. The money will be spent to create new bike and pedestrian pathways on campus, and add traffic-calming measures at crosswalks on U-Vic’s Ring Road.
