Uisce Éireann is being accused of working off “erroneous information” as it looks to build a sewage treatment plant near a popular West Clare tourist attraction. With the decision date looming for the water utility’s application to construct a four-hectare development in the vicinity of Kilkee Cliff Walk, locals have launched a petition expressing opposition to the plans.

Clare’s Government TD claims the findings of the Clarke Report have copperfastened the need for the expedited delivery of a new Emergency Department in Ennis. It comes as the latest report into the death of Shannon Teenager Aoife Johnston at University Hospital Limerick has determined the circumstances in which she died were “almost certainly avoidable”. The fundamental issue according to the former Justice Clarke’s report was the delay in treatment provided to Aoife Johnston.

The Independent Broadcasters of Ireland claim broadcasting policy in Ireland is “totally letting down the nation’s independent radio stations and their millions of listeners”. The IBI is calling for a “level playing-field and for urgent action” amid claims that the State us failing to produce measures to support the needs of radio stations in the sector.

Reposing at Queallys Funeral Home, Miltown Malbay Friday 20th September from 6pm to 7:30pm. Cremation to take place on Saturday 21st at 12 noon in Shannon Crematorium. Debby’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the carers and hospital staff who took such good care of her during the past few weeks.

A former Lissycasey councillor has been remembered as “both an honest man and a great politician”. Long-serving member of Clare County Council and founding member of Lissycasey GAA Club PJ Kelly has been laid to rest in Lissycasey Cemetery this afternoon following his passing over the weekend.
