New images show that the historic listed facade is only thing left of a former Junners building. The much-loved former Elgin toy shop closed in January 2016 after 116 years of trading. It was once the entrance to the town’s Victorian market with the archway protected as C-listed. The preserved facade will be incorporated with the new South Street mixed-use redevelopment. The listed facade as it appeared before the demolition began.

For Zoë Hershaw, the rise of her dance school in Elgin has certainly been rapid. She set up Zodiac Performing Arts after returning home from London during lockdown after years of being a professional dancer. It was a childhood dream to run her own business, which had become a reality. Initially she had been running the dance studio at the Elgin Business Centre on Maisondieu Road.

Ramsdens may have 170 stores nationwide, but chief executive Peter Kenyon has revealed he was truly in uncharted territory following the shock closure of the St Giles Shopping Centre. The Elgin mall was closed in January after the owner pulled the plug amidst crippling debts. Businesses were given less than two weeks to vacant the building and find new premises with many left homeless in the process.

Liquidators wants to work with Moray Council to find a “meaningful way” to breathe new life into the locked-up St Giles Centre. The Elgin mall was closed in January after the owner pulled the plug amidst crippling debts. Now Alistair McAlinden and James Dewar from Interpath have been appointed as joint provisional liquidators of St Giles Shopping Centre Holdings Limited.

Phone company O2 has confirmed they will not open a new Elgin store after being forced from the St Giles Centre. The phone company previously had an established presence in the shopping centre. However in January, the Elgin High Street mall shut down after its owner pulled the plug amidst crippling debts. The shopping centre’s closure made many businesses homeless and searching for new accommodation.
