    Hockey Alberta has named the 160 athletes who will compete at the 2025 Prospects Cup. Eight teams will compete in the modified round-robin tournament at Red Deer's Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre from May 7-11. The participating squads are comprised of the top male hockey players from across the province, born in 2012, with each of the eight rosters including two goaltenders, six defencemen and 12 forwards.

    Hundreds of young Red Deerians spent part of their long weekend searching for Easter eggs around Sunnybrook Farm Museum. On Saturday, April 19 ,an annual Easter Egg Hunt was held at the museum, which aims to celebrate the early days of Alberta farming. "A few years ago we decided we wanted to do more activities around the wintertime, when the general exhibits are closed," explained Ian Warwick, executive director of Sunnybrook Farm Museum. "This was a volunteer-driven initiative.

    Lacrosse players from Central Alberta will represent Alberta at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. Innisfail's Luc Catudal, Red Deer's Kian Siemens and Blackfalds' Tyrell Strauss, who all play for the U17A Red Deer Chiefs, will head to St. John's, Nfld. for the national competition from Aug. 8-25. Catudal and Siemens are officially part of the Team Alberta roster, and Strauss was selected as an alternate goalie who will train with the team in preparation for the Games.

New episodes of the first season of Voices of Resilience are currently being released on a weekly basis, and can be seen on TELUS Optik TV, Stream+ and STORYHIVE’s YouTube channel. Peterson played basketball while attending Lacombe Composite High School, primarily as a way to stay in shape for lacrosse.
