Tombstone Deputy Marshal shoots, kills K-9 partner after K-9 attacks him

Cochise County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened earlier this week in Tombstone. The Office says on Tuesday, November 19, Cochise County Sheriffs were notified of an issue on the second floor of the Tombstone Marshal's office. A number of units responded and found Deputy Marshal John Cody in an upstairs bathroom with his K-9 partner dead outside the door.
'A' Mountain vandalized overnight with the colors of the Palestinian flag

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — "A" Mountain's iconic "A" has been vandalized. Sometime overnight, the top of the "A" was painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag. This comes as protests turned violent overnight at the UArizona campus. So far, we've reached out to Tucson Police Department for a statement about the vandalism. They say: Criminal damage is a misdemeanor crime.
"Above average" wildfire season expected in central and southern Arizona

State fire leaders say we're seeing worse drought conditions than last year. Because of that, the Department of Forestry and Fire Management and Governor Katie Hobbs say communities need to get ready for what could be an active wildfire season. AZ Forestry's John Truett says we could see the risks go up significantly for central and southern Arizona this May and June. "This year we're talking about heavy vegetation growth and risk," Truett told KGUN9.
Future of transit in Pima County to be addressed at multiple open houses this week

Happening this week, you can participate in several open houses and talk to Pima County transportation teams. They say they want to show neighbors how they'll spend the money that would improve our roads and upgrade buses and rapid transit over the next five years. The county says it will also look into safety projects and new facilities for cyclists and pedestrians. The first of these open houses can be attended in-person or on Zoom.

A post on Twitter says the location is now hiring for all positions. Sweet Tomatoes closed during the COVID-19 pandemic as buffets were hit hard during lockdowns.
Oro Valley hosting mobile mammogram screening event

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN) — If you're due for a mammogram, the Town of Oro Valley is hosting a special mobile screening event. Assured Imaging will be set up at Town Hall on N. La Cañada Dr. on March 6th. To be eligible you need to be at least 40 years old, can't have had a mammogram in the last year, and have no current breast symptoms or complaints. All major insurances will be accepted. More information can be found on the Facebook post below.
