ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Motorists breaking traffic laws around Elk Grove Unified School District campuses can expect citations through the mail after the Elk Grove Police Department reiterated plans to use video evidence to help deter parking complaints around schools. The Police Department reminded the community of the new plans via a Facebook post last week in response to numerous complaints from community members about improperly parked vehicles and motorists who stop improperly near schools.

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - City Manager Jason Behrmann discussed the recently announced plans for Michael Hargis’ Slow & Low smokehouse to reopen as Horn Elk Grove and $500,000 of city funds used to help guarantee a loan for improvement of the space. Behrmann said “most” of the funds were used to make permanent upgrades to the restaurant location prior to opening, and those improvements will be used by incoming barbecue magnate Matt Horn.

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Elk Grove City Council took a significant step toward making its Elk Grove Boulevard Library Improvement Project a reality at its first meeting of 2025 with the approval of a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a nearly $10,000,000 construction contract for the project. At a Jan. 8 City Council meeting, the council unanimously approved the resolution allowing the city manager to execute a contract with the Sunnyvale-based company SC Builders, Inc.

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Michael Hargis’ Slow & Low Smokehouse is shifting gears. The owner recently announced a partnership with Bay Area barbecue heavyweight Matt Horn to revamp the eatery as Horn Elk Grove. The newly dubbed restaurant plans to replace Slow & Low at 9699 Railroad St. in late February, according to the restaurant’s social media accounts. The restaurant closed on Jan. 1 in preparation for the change.
