Nosiah Santos, a 17-year-old, was shot and killed after a fight at the gas pumps at Petro Stopping Center, located just off Highway 318 near I-75.His loved ones returned to the scene today to release balloons in memory of Santos.The Marion County Sheriff's Office said they still haven't made an arrest but have identified a person of interest in Jacksonville.Investigators are still piecing together what happened and what led to the shooting.

Speeding and reckless driving are taking a deadly toll on Marion County roads, with almost 30 traffic fatalities in a span of four months. According to data from the Florida Highway and Safety Motor Vehicles, there have been more than 2,280 crashes in the county so far in 2025. More than 400 were hit-and-run accidents, and nearly 1900 resulted in injuries.The latest crash claimed yet another life Sunday morning after the Ocala Police Department said a driver was ejected from their minivan.

The family of a man who was shot and killed by an Orange County deputy is calling for justice and demanding the sheriff's office to release body camera video. Loved ones of Tyrone Bartley, 32, claim he was wrongfully targeted in a botched raid. "Sheriff Mina is committed to transparency and that is why we release body worn camera video withing 30 days of the incident," a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said in a statement to WESH 2.

Berkeley Pointe Apartments in Ocala has been at the center of a year-old initiative to curb crime and increase safety. UPDATE: Lobo the service dog has been found safe and returned to the family. "His return has brought immense comfort to a family already coping with a profound loss. Your support during this time has meant more than words can express," The Villages Fire Chief Brian Twiss said.Firefighters at The Villages are asking for help to find a missing service dog after his owner, a lieutenant with fire rescue, recently died.The dog, Lobo, has not been seen since May 25.
