When I was just a kid in the late 1970s, we'd do Easter egg hunts at Mamaw and Papaw's house with dozens of real dyed, hard-boiled eggs — none of that plastic stuff. Invariably, we'd lose at least one. Months later, Papaw would be out in his yard and accidentally crack open a stink bomb. Emma I. McLagan would have scoffed at us, and probably hated the ancient tradition of dying hard-boiled eggs. After all, eggs are for eating, and she was NOT a fan of the hard-boiled variety.

Abilities Awareness Fashion ShowThe Abilities Awareness Fashion Show on April 19 from 3-6 p.m. will feature individuals who are differently abled, STAARs. This is an opportunity for them to shine at the COD Center, 1735 Highland Ave., Montgomery. Tickets are $30. This event is a fundraiser to help supplement the cost for our programs while offering respite for caregivers.

A king's ghost puts his son on a bloody quest against the brother who killed him to take the throne and queen. If the prince were a hulking mass of brawn and rage, it would make for a pretty decent Marvel film. But what if the prince is no hero, isn't built to carry out revenge in any way, and really has no place in his royal family as a whole? Of course, we're talking about the title character of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet," which opens April 17 at Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery.

The Big Bounce America in Montgomery, AL, canceled its second day of events (April 13) due to low ticket sales. Ticket holders for the canceled day were notified via email about a week prior and offered a rescheduled time on April 12 or a refund. Some attendees who didn't receive the notification arrived at the venue on April 13 to find the event already packed up. Two planned days of bouncing fun in Montgomery were compacted into a single day this past weekend due to low ticket sales.
