By Shannon Lukens. Spring runoff is rising as are river levels in the Yampa and Elk rivers. Tubing is NOT recommended right now. Use caution around fast-moving streams and rivers. Wear a Personal Flotation Device and helmet if rafting or kayaking. Watch out for your kids and pets along the water’s edge. The City of Steamboat Springs is also providing sand at sandbag stations to those at residential properties who may need it. The residents must acquire their own sandbags.

By Shannon Lukens. Moffat County is getting a $2 million Just Transition Community Funding grant for a new multi-use events and resiliency center. It will be at the Moffat County Fairgrounds. It will include a 45,000 square foot arena that can seat up to 6,000 people with 15,000 square feet of conference space. It is expected to create 30 full-time equivalent jobs through operations, renewable energy and hospitality, and bring in an estimate $1.2 million in sales tax revenue in its first five years.

That’s where 18-year-old Steamboat Springs resident Jesse Hamric died on the 4th of July, from an electrical shock in the water.

The firefighters are taking a Type 3 Engine and they’ll be gone for two weeks. Once they get there, they’ll get assigned to an area to watch for any wildfires that may start up. It’s a day for some important meetings.
