JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Jefferson County officials on Thursday announced the county's first case of rabies for 2025 in a bat found in the Westlake neighborhood in Arvada. According to Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH), a family's dog picked up the bat in their backyard. The family called Jefferson County Animal Control, which tested the bat. The dog was given a rabies booster shot and was quarantined for 45 days.

DENVER — Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has ordered all national parks to post signs asking visitors to report any information that tells a negative story about the site or its history. The order applies to all 400 sites within the land management bureau, which is made up of the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service.

DENVER — A new study by the Common Sense Institute found that motorcycle deaths in Colorado increased by 60% between 2018 and 2024. Last year, Colorado saw 165 motorcycle deaths — the most ever recorded in the state. The study also found that Colorado motorcycle registrations declined by 9% during the same period. According to the Common Sense Institute, traffic penalties assessed in the state plummeted 54% from 159,000 to 72,800.

Fascination Street Fine Art in Cherry Creek is hosting a 55-year retrospective of the work of artist Ruby Mazur, who created the famous "Mouth & Tongue" image for the Rolling Stones' 1972 "Tumbling Dice" record sleeve. His paintings have been featured on more than 3,000 album covers for artists, including Elton John, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, and B.B. King.
