    Manual High School senior Ashley Billiter is one of only two students from Kentucky selected for the prestigious United States Senate Youth Program, an initiative designed to foster the next generation of American leaders. The program, founded in 1962 by William Randolph Hearst, the founder of WLKY's parent company, Hearst Television, chooses two students from each state for a $10,000 scholarship.

    More affordable housing is coming to the Merriwether neighborhood, in the form of 80 apartment units. "Safe, quality, and affordable housing is the foundation for everything else in a family's life," said Mayor Craig Greenberg. This new investment is part of Volunteers of America's Mid-States affordable housing complex. The nonprofit's mission is to change lives through addiction recovery, and homelessness and housing services.

"We want to make sure that we get people turned out to vote because turnout is ultimately everything," said Lyndon Pryor, the president & CEO of the Louisville Urban League. In an effort to get as many voters out to the poll this election, the League is taking part in souls to the polls.
