    The city of Cody has announced two finalists for the position of community development director – Colton Berck of Eagle, Colo., and Peter Hughes of Chicago. The public will have a chance to meet them at the reception Thursday evening in the library. The third candidate, Chloe Lomprey of Colorado Springs recently withdrew from consideration. The position became vacant April 5, 2024, when Todd Stowell left after 12 years as city planner/community development director.

    With the $10 million secured from the state last week, the work to construct the Wyoming State Shooting Complex south of Cody can begin. The facility could open in late 2026 or early the following year. “We are thrilled to be moving forward,” said Glenn Ross of the Local Working Group. First, a nine-member joint powers board to oversee the project will be appointed – six by the Park County commissioners and three by the Cody City Council.

    A day-long workshop to help rural landowners manage their small acreages will be offered Saturday, March 29, in the Cody Auditorium. The Cody Conservation District, along with irrigation districts, are hosting the event called Living on A Few Acres Workshop from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.“Plan on staying the whole time,” advised Olivia Bergeron, CCD conservation programs specialist. The fee for registration is $10, which covers lunch from Bubba’s BBQ. People are asked to sign up by Monday, March 24.

    Renaissance Faire is the theme for this year’s wine tasting party, the annual fundraiser hosted by the Cody Soroptimist Club. The event will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in the Cody Auditorium. Renaissance attire is optional. “People love to dress up,” said Linda Tremelling, the club’s public awareness chair.
