Richmond-based international foam producer Carpenter has acquired omnichannel bedding brand Casper Sleep. Under the agreement, Casper will operate as a subsidiary of Carpenter. This marks the third acquisition Carpenter has made in the past 16 months. In November 2023, Carpenter acquired North Carolina-based NCFI Polyurethanes. That deal followed the company’s closing in June 2023 on its $492 million acquisition of Belgium-based Recticel N.V.’s engineered foam division.

Expanding on Kuka Home’s collaboration with Southern California-bases interior designer Becki Owens, Kuka Home Sleep is offering a four-bed mattress collection under the brand at the Las Vegas Market. Designed with bamboo covers and with the company’s CertiPUR-US 25% biobased certified foam, the company said the new mattress offering combines elegance and sustainability. Kuka Home unveiled the Becki Owens Home furniture collection at the spring High Point Market.

Acting on its planned succession strategy, Culp Inc. has named Mary Beth Hunsberger president of its Culp Upholstery Fabrics division. The appointment is effective July 27. Hunsberger, who joined the company in January as executive vice president of the division, succeeds Boyd Chumbley who retires this month. Chumbley and Hunsberger have worked together over the last six months. Hunsberger reports to Iv Culp, Culp Inc.’s president and CEO.

Toronto – Canadian sleep retailer Sleep Country Canada Holdings will be acquired by Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. in a proposed deal valued at C$1.7 billion. Once complete, the deal will take the 307-store retailer private and its shares delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange.
