New support group aims to help Tri-State first responders and veterans heal

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — Tri-State first responders and veterans are invited to attend a new support group. The Defending Heroes Project will host their first meeting called the "Heroes Bond Support Group" on Tuesday, December 5th. The new meeting is a confidential place where first responders and veterans can gather to bond, support each other, and heal from their traumatic experiences. Everyone of all professions, ages, and backgrounds are invited to attend.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — A Boonville man is facing several serious charges after being caught in Henderson. The Henderson County Sheriff's Office says they arrested 36-year-old Michael Wheeler Friday night at Ellis Park Wheeler was arrested on an indictment warrant of child sexual abuse and distribution of obscene materials to minors. Wheeler was booked in the Henderson County Detention Center.

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says K9 Officer Claire has officially passed her Therapy Dog Training Certification. Claire arrived at the animal shelter back in March. The Warrick Parks Foundation unveiled the phones at both Friedman Park and Scales Lake Park. Officials say the highly-visible, solar-powered, weatherproof, wireless emergency phones are the first emergency systems located in any area park. The Beacons provide visitors a fast and simple way to contact authorities if help is needed.
