ANNISTON - For more than 55 years, Maudine Holloway has led Community Enabler with a simple mission: to help those in need of food, clothing and shelter. On Friday, June 20, the organization will hold its annual fundraiser drawing to continue that mission. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Anniston City Meeting Center. On May 22, the Calhoun County Board of Education approved several improvements to facilities, including:- Adding turf to the baseball, softball and football fields in the district. ANNISTON - Beth Henderson remembers her childhood growing up attending the Blue Mountain Baptist Church. Henderson's grandfather, Gean Hinds, would gather all the children in the family and neighborhood and walk down Railroad Avenue to church on Sundays. When he died 24 years ago, Henderson's grief evoked such sadness that she didn't return to the church until recently.
