It has to be stated before stating anything else that the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court in a most learned, laudable, landmark, logical and latest judgment titled Thakan @ Nitin Bhausaheb Alhat vs The State of Maharashtra And Another in Bail Application No. 1504 of 2024 and cited in Neutral Citation No.: 2024:BHC-AUG:21056 that was pronounced as recently as on September 5, 2024 minced just no words to observe that it is most painful to stay in the overcrowded jails in India.

Modi’s BJP is making gays, lesbians and bisexuals invisible, marginalized; not even worthy of mention in their election manifesto. This shows BJP’s intent. The gay, lesbian, bisexual community better get its act together now; else it would be too late. The gays, lesbians and bisexuals are being treated the way Muslims in India are dealt with.

On 1 April 2024 a press-release was published in CC titled: ‘Vested interests’ trying to influence judiciary’, 600 lawyers write to CJI.’ I was surprised – nay shocked – to see this press-release published in CC. The press-release gives no indication of its origin which in itself is worrying. This letter by 600 lawyers was given wide coverage in mainstream media; endorsed by PM Modi – which was also dutifully covered widely by mainstream media.

Legislators in Thailand’s lower house of Parliament have decisively endorsed a marriage equality bill, marking a historic step towards becoming the first Southeast Asian nation to legalize equal marriage rights for all people. On March 27, 2024, 400 out of 415 attending lawmakers voted in favor of the bill.
