SALT LAKE CITY — One emotion prevailed for the Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, the Most Rev. Oscar A. Solis, when he heard that a new pope had been elected on Thursday. It was easy and willing acceptance of the choice. “It was God’s will,” Solis told those gathered at the Cathedral of the Madeleine not long after Robert Prevost became pope and took the name Leo XIV. “You know, a lot of people think that it is a political process,” he said.

OREM — Does this envelope look familiar? Is the money yours? If so, Orem police would like to speak with you. And at the same time, police are thanking the kids who they say found the money. In a Facebook post, the Orem Police Department said a 12- and a 13-year-old boy found two envelopes near Mountain View High School’s stadium. There was a track meet going on at the time.

OGDEN — An Ogden man is facing more than 600 charges, after Ogden Animal Services said they found 150 dogs in his house last month. Miguel Salgado Vargas, age 73, is facing counts of cruelty to animals, public nuisance, failing to get rabies vaccines for the dogs, and having unlicensed animals. The dogs were reportedly found in poor condition on Tuesday, April 15. As KSL previously reported, the dogs were removed from the home that day.
