Pinner Cricket Club (PCC) raised a tremendous £1,388 after dozens of Under 9 players paid a visit for a day of stiff competition. According to PCC spokesperson Hari Ramachandran, the spectators barely had time to take a sip of tea without missing some of the action at Softball Cricket Day 2024 on Sunday, June 30. Stanmore fielded three teams, alongside a crew from Harrow St Mary’s, West Harrow and Headstone Manor Cricket Clubs.

A new not-for-profit shop has opened on Honeypot Lane in Stanmore. MahaPrasad is a community hub which is a mission-driven, non-profit business dedicated to giving back to the community and supporting local causes. Customers who shop at MahaPrasad are helping to support charities, community kitchens, food banks and the homeless. A personal trainer from Croxley has set up a Sunday circuits class to raise money for a charity close to the heart of her late mother-in-law. Just under a month after being hospitalised with leukaemia, Sholée Parry’s mother-in-law passed away on Christmas Eve last year. The much-missed grandmother had long supported the Karen Morris Memorial Trust, a charity providing accommodation for leukaemia patients and their families.

Pupils at Maple Cross JMI Nursery School headed to nearby Woodoaks Farm last month to learn about the farm’s circular economy and create their own summer wreath. The children heard from Melanie from the Golden Rose Flower Farm, who reuses cardboard for weed suppressant and old fencing for her sweet peas to climb.

A walking group aiming to encourage people to get active in Canons Park has come to the end of its first set of courses, which was funded by the Transport for London Foundation. In February, Stanmorenews reported that WALX with Harrow Striders had won a grant to put on four six-week courses combining the basics of Nordic Walking with balance and strength training.

An 11-year-old Stanmore girl has devoted her summer holiday to raising money for the RSPCA. Rather than attend sports camps or coding clubs, budding artist Yahvi is selling handmade works of art to raise funds for the charity. The talented young artist was inspired to support the RSPCA after an incident that left her reeling.

After 20 years of teaching in primary education, Croxley Baptist Church’s minister-in-training is now based at the church. A member and volunteer at the church since 2008, Rachel Mead began her training last September. Now halfway through the course, she looks forward to drawing on her many years of experience with Croxley Baptist to further support the community. A member of the Rickmansworth & Watford Sea Cadets ( located in Croxley) has been crowned the winner of the 2024 Junior Sea Cadets Roundel Competition, launched in 2018 to commemorate the former Lord Mayors of London. After receiving his first laptop as a present from his parents, 11-year-old Louie reportedly spent hours researching the life of the 695th Lord Mayor, Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli. He then used his research to design a stained-glass artwork inspired by the Lord Mayor’s life.

Plans hatched by Batchworth Community Council (BCC) to buy a new community hall for Rickmansworth residents have been slowed down after Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) rejected an application for £750,000 to buy the premises. After running a consultation with residents that found 54% of locals in favour of BCC buying Cloisters Hall for use as a new community hall, BCC applied to the TRDC Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
