SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is getting ready to break ground on its first temple in the island nation of Singapore. The Singapore Republic of Singapore Temple, as it will be known, was announced in the April 2021 General Conference by Prophet and President of the Church, Russell M. Nelson. The temple’s groundbreaking ceremony will be held in June. The first counselor in the Church’s Asia area presidency, Elder Kelly R. Johnson, will preside at the event.

SYRACUSE, Utah (ABC4) — The open house at the Syracuse Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is set to begin later this week. The First Presidency announced the dates for the open house back in January, along with its dedication date, which will be on Sunday, June 8th. NAIROBI, Kenya (ABC4) — For the first time, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will open its doors in Kenya. The Nairobi Kenya Temple of the Utah-based faith group will begin an open house this week. For members of the Church in Kenya, this is something they’ve looked forward to for quite some time. “The first Church members in Kenya were baptized in 1979, with two small congregations in 1981 in Nairobi and Kiboko. Soon after, Kenya’s first stake was organized in 2001,” the Church said.
