    WASCO COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - The Rowena wildfire has destroyed 49 homes in Wasco County, with numbers expected to grow, and hundreds have been evacuated. As of Saturday, Oregon fire officials said the Rowena Fire was at 3,831 acres and 5% contained. Level 3, Level 2 and Level 1 evacuation orders were all still in effect. Additionally, Mayer State Park is closed.

    THE DALLES, Ore. (KPTV) — David Lyons, a former wildland firefighter, was in The Dalles Wednesday afternoon when he saw the Rowena fire coming over the hillside near 7 Mill Hill Road. Lyons had stopped at an auto shop after work and noticed a bulldozer sitting nearby. Within 15 minutes, Lyons was on the bulldozer and working to stop the flames from spreading. “[I’m] just a country boy who knows how to run equipment,” Lyons said.
