    Project will cost $26M LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)– The Nebraska State Patrol is working to keep our state safer by expanding its crime lab. Wednesday it broke ground on the $26 million project. The existing crime lab, off Air Park Road,will increase from 31,000 square feet to 59,000 square feet. NSP said since the crime lab opened eight years ago, work has increased 23-percent.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln is partnering with CenterPointe to help better serve people in a mental health crisis by mental health professionals and police responding to calls together. CenterPointe said it had 6,400 crisis intervention contacts with people this year – highlighting the need for the program. Mental health professionals will provide their expertise and resources to those in crisis, while LPD officers maintain safety and security through the Co-Responder Program.

It passed with a vote of 40 yes, 3 no, 3 present not voting. LB34 now goes to Gov. Jim Pillen’s desk to sign. The Special Session is currently in recess until 1:00 p.m.
