    A couple from Norway was stranded on a ledge in Zion National Park late Friday night, prompting an air rescue. A 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were hiking the popular Cowboy Ridge on Mount Kinesava within the park, Sgt. Jacob Paul of the Washington County Sheriff's Office told St. George News. "They ended up going off trail, got stuck out on a ledge that they couldn't get off of, and ran out of water and needed us to just assist with getting them off," Paul said.

    A hiker fell approximately 30 feet in the Pine Creek drainage area of Zion National Park on Sunday evening. Park rangers arrived on the scene at approximately 7 p.m., Zion National Park spokesperson Matthew Fink told St. George News in an email. When the report came in, crews from Zion National Park were also responding to another incident, so members of the Hurricane Valley Fire District's Station 49 also responded, Battalion Chief Tyler Ames said.

    Law enforcement working the early scene received calls to three semi tractors involved in two separate, unrelated incidents on Interstate 15 in Washington County on Friday morning. "I was shocked to find out three semis wrecked," Washington County Sheriff Sgt. Lucas Alfred told St. George News.

On Friday, April 4, at 8 p.m., Dr. Ian McCammon will speak on managing risks related to outdoor adventures. This free event will be held at the Springdale Community Center and is hosted by Zion Canyon Mesa. McCammon is an experienced backcountry skier, climber and mountaineer who has worked as an outdoor educator in various settings.
