Eastleigh’s new 21-hectare Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG) will be called Stoke Park Common, following a decision by the borough council’s Cabinet on Monday 16 June. The new parkland, located near Stoke Park Woods, has been created to provide informal public recreation while helping to protect sensitive wildlife habitats. The site includes nearly 2.5km of newly laid footpaths linking into the existing network of public rights of way and bridleways in the surrounding area.

Police are appealing for information to help find missing woman Michaela Smith. The 31-year-old from Eastleigh was last seen on 12 June. Michaela is described as white, about 5ft tall, medium build, reddish/brown hair past the shoulder. She has a love heart tattoo on her wrist, and a tattoo of the name ‘LEAH’ on her hand. She was last seen wearing black leggings, black and pink Airmax trainers, and a leopard-print long-sleeved top. Michaela is known to travel to the Southampton area.

Hampshire leads for collapsed sex offence prosecutions

Hampshire Constabulary recorded the highest rate of sexual offence prosecutions collapsing due to missing or unavailable evidence, according to a BBC Shared Data Unit investigation based on figures from the Crown Prosecution Service. Between October 2022 and September 2024, 22 sexual offence prosecutions in Hampshire were dropped after police were unable to provide crucial evidence when the case reached court.
