In the week that a shop in Haverhill closed after more than 20 years, a new greengrocer opened just a few metres away. Last week, the Queen Street branch of discount store Thing-Me-Bobs shut, while greengrocer FIFA & FRUIT launched in the premises formerly occupied by phone and tablet repair shop My Screen Monkey, which closed on November 13.

The first holiday club to be run by a fledgling service for children with disabilities and/or special needs (SEND) and their parents has been described as ‘perfect for our needs’. As part of plans to establish the Sunflower SEND Hub in Haverhill, three holiday clubs have been held on a trial basis.

Haverhill is leading the way in a groundbreaking recycling scheme that is now gaining more support in other towns. Just over one year ago, reverse vending machines were installed at two locations in both Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds, with another added inside Haverhill Leisure Centre six months ago.
