    A fire affecting an area of 60,000 sq m of forest in Suffolk was put out by multiple fire crews earlier today. Five pumps were called to the fire in Marks Lane, Santon Downham, part of Thetford Forest, after being alerted at 2.41pm.     A man has been left in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted outside a shop in Ipswich. The incident in which the man was injured took place in Hawthorn Drive, Chantry, at some point between 9.15 and 9:25pm yesterday. It was reported that two men were involved in a physical altercation outside the East of England Co-op. The victim, a man aged in his 40s, sustained broken ribs and a serious head injury.

Chantry Butchers, which has a shop on the square, posted on social media early this morning.
