An MP has called on the Government to introduce extra animal welfare protections due to an ongoing 'moral failing' during a debate. Adrian Ramsay, MP for the Waveney Valley constituency, led the Westminster Hall debate on Tuesday in a bid to introduce extra animal welfare safeguards in farming. He told MPs recent undercover footage of piglets being violently killed at a farm in Lincolnshire was not an isolated incident, and instead a symptom of failings in policy and enforcement.

Lane closures will be in place on the Orwell Bridge tonight ahead of seven weeks of work later this month. National Highways has warned that one lane in both directions on the A14, between junction 56 at Wherstead and junction 57 at Nacton Interchange, will be in place from 8pm today until 6am tomorrow. The closure will allow teams to carry out surveys.

An Ipswich RAF veteran has joined the force’s leading welfare charity to share his experiences of how it changed his life after he was medically discharged from service. Neil Fellingham, 36, served in the RAF for 12 and a half years as a weapons technician before he suffered a broken leg, with complications, in a car accident.

A mental health charity has opened up its annual colour run event to more people than ever this year. Suffolk Mind expects its 2025 Colour Rush event, in Trinity Park, Ipswich, on October 4, will raise more than £25,000 this year. The charity is doubling its capacity this year to allow for 1,000 people to be doused in colour on its 1.5 or 3 kilometre courses.
