    Drivers on the M27 are now being diverted after police closed the A31 this afternoon following the discovery of a woman’s body on Saturday evening near the road. Yajaira Castro Mendez’s body was found around 6pm by the A31 westbound at Bolderwood in the New Forest - a few miles away from where it joins the M27. Screens were put up yesterday evening and a lane closed as officers investigated the scene. The lane had remained closed so far today - causing “severe delays” for drivers, the AA reported.

    A “frightening” thunderbolt struck a tree in Hayling Island causing it to burst into flames on Saturday evening. Firefighters attended St Peter’s Church before putting out the blaze following the “unbelievable” lightning strike, which happened amid a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms.     Police have given an update into the murder probe of a “beautiful” woman mysteriously found dead at a Portsmouth house on Thursday. Mum Samantha Murphy, 32, was tragically found deceased at a house on Wadham Road, North End, after officers were called to the property at 7.37am - sparking a huge manhunt that included a police helicopter. Two men, both aged 32, from Petersfield and Havant were later arrested on suspicion of murder.

    People lined the streets of Southsea as Portsmouth Pride came to the city for the first time on Saturday. Portsmouth was chosen out of more than 260 community-run Pride organisations across the UK to host the the festival. The event shone a “national spotlight on the work of a volunteer-run local charity organising one of the biggest, completely free and unfenced Pride events in the country", said Portsmouth Pride. The festival was a celebration of LGBTQ+ communities that saw thousands attend.
