KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating whether a driver was impaired when he drove onto a sidewalk, struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday. The crash happened on westbound Winner Road near Ewing Avenue at about 1:10 p.m., police said. The white Dodge Challenger was going west on Winner Road just east of Ewing Avenue, according to KCMO police. The driver of the Dodge went up onto the sidewalk and hit the pedestrian walking west on the sidewalk, police said.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Harrisonville Police Department issued an Endangered Silver Advisory Friday for a missing 82-year-old man. Police say Richard Stuckey was seen at 9:45 a.m. Friday at 2308 Twin Oaks Drive in Harrisonville. Stuckey is white, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has dark gray hair and brown eyes. He wore a dark plaid shirt and black pants. Stuckey has Alzheimer's disease. Police said he was recently moved to Harrisonville from his home in Kearney.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is charged with second-degree murder and other felonies for the January 10, 2025, shooting death of well-known Northland sportswriter Dennis Sharkey, Jr. Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd announced charges today against Ruslan Huseynov in the Sharkey murder. Huseynov, in addition to the murder charge, is also charged in Platte County Court with two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Platte County Sheriff's Department investigators identified and interviewed a person of interest in the Jan. 10, 2025, road rage murder of a well-known Platte County sportswriter. Law officers found Dennis Sharkey, Jr., shot to death inside his white 2019 Chevrolet Spark at the bottom of an embankment off Interstate 29 at Northwest 72nd Street.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After a banner week at the plate, Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino was named the American League's Player of the Week. The 27-year-old first baseman hit .500 last week and had 13 hits, which tied him with Oakland A's shortstop Jacob Wilson, according to a news release from the Royals. He is the first Royals player to win the American League's Player of the Week award in 2025. Pasquantino hit safely in all six games last week and had four multi-hit games.
