NEW CITY ‒ Republican Rockland County Executive Ed Day isn't likely to face a Democrat as he seeks a fourth, four-year term as the county's top administrator. No Democrat filed nominating petitions to gain the party's ballot spots for the June 24 primary or the Nov. 4 election. A write-in vote remains possible for any candidate, and minor party ballot lines, such as for the Conservative Party, remain open.

Authorities charged two Rockland men and four others with attempting to solicit minors for sex during an undercover internet sting operation. The men were snared during an investigation by the New York State police, Rockland Sheriff's Office, and Ramapo police. One of them Yessachar D. Klahr, teaches at a private boys' school in Monsey, according to a letter sent to parents by the school.

NEW CITY - A Clarkstown man faces felony charges for possessing a ghost gun and ammunition after being arrested as part of a law enforcement campaign to take the untraceable weapon off the streets. Authorities arrested Charles Breslow with a loaded .9mm ghost gun and several high-capacity clips during a raid Monday, April 7, on his New City home.

NEW CITY — Three men accused of smoking marijuana in a laundry room led to one of them being charged with possessing a gun and ammunition, Clarkstown police said. Officers were called to the laundry room of New City Garden Apartments at 160 N Main St, on Wednesday, April 2, to investigate a complaint ot three men trespassing, police said. The officers found the men sitting on laundry room washing machines smoking marijuana, department spokesman Detective Norman Peters said in a news release.
