LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A new study from personal injury lawyers, Andijar and Levine, took a look at pedestrian injuries in car crash incidents. Specifically, they wanted to see which states had the most amount of deaths that occurred when a pedestrian was hit at marked crosswalks. Nevada, with the hustle and bustle of both Las Vegas and Reno, saw almost 55% of pedestrians involved in fatal crashes at marked crosswalks.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WWEUX) – As representatives in Washington look to push through a budget plan that includes cuts to Medicaid, some area lawmakers held a roundtable discussion over those cuts. State Senator Jeff Smith from Brunswick said more than 1 million Wisconsinites rely on Medicaid, including nearly 150,000 seniors, nearly half a million children, and 187,000 people with disabilities. He added that if federal funding gets cut, the state must either foot the bill or cut certain benefits.

CADOTT, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – 2 people were injured after a 3-vehicle crash on Highway 27 in Chippewa County on Wednesday (5/7/25). According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened north of Cadott just before 5 pm. Crews found that a vehicle was trying to turn west when it hit an SUV pulling a trailer. The SUV lost control and was hit by a semi.
