LINCOLN — The NSAA Representative Assembly, in a split vote Friday, rejected a proposal for a 180-school day varsity ineligibility period for students who change high schools after the May 1 state deadline. The 53-member body voted it down 26-27. Passage would have required 32 yes votes. Proponents sought to replace the longstanding 90-school day varsity ineligibility period, which doesn’t affect spring-sports athletes if the school change comes during the summer.
