17 1/1 CROWDS flocked to another successful Catrine show last weekend. The popular show was back once again on Saturday, May 3, with exhibits including cattle, sheep, show classes, dog shows, baking, and much more. It is believed to be one of the oldest recorded village shows in the whole of Scotland. The popular show had been a staple in the local calendar until its final show in 2019 before being halted by the pandemic.

Councillor James Kyle has tabled the motion (Image: East Ayrshire Council/Newsquest) AN East Ayrshire councillor has tabled a motion to commemorate the Knockshinnoch mining disaster near New Cumnock. Doon Valley councillor, James Kyle, has set the motion to be raised at a council meeting on Thursday, May 15. Councillor Kyle wants to look back at the disaster which claimed the lives of 13 men in September 1950.

The road was closed for around 10 hours (Image: Newsquest) A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash on the A70 near Muirkirk on Thursday afternoon. The fatal incident happened at around 2.20pm on May 8, with the road being closed for around 10 hours while investigation work was completed. The crash took place between Douglas and Muirkirk and involved a black Suzuki GSXR 600 K7 motorcycle and a red Volvo HGV.
