Economic pressures are prompting more families to grow vegetables in their backyards. According to the National Gardening Association, more than 43 percent of Americans are now growing their own vegetables, a significant increase from previous years. Nina Truitt is part of that growing number of families. She said it helps save money during times of economic uncertainty. The Truitts got the idea during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting off with a small garden in the backyard of their Harvey home.

City leaders gathered with residents of the Vietnamese community Wednesday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon. The ceremony included flag raising and laying of the wreath to remember the historic day. The ceremony took place at the Vietnam War memorial and was hosted by the Saigon Commission, the Vietnamese American Community of Louisiana and VIET and SONG CDC. The 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon marks half a century since the end of the Vietnam War.

AND AS FAMILIES ARE SCRAMBLING TO COMBAT RECORD HIGH PRICES, I FOUND A LOCAL FAMILY WHO DISCOVERED A WAY TO SAVE SOME MONEY. YOU CAN CALL IT THE SUNNY SIDE UP. OF EGG FLATION. THE BIRD NAMES HAVE A LARGE FAMILY AND COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH THE SOARING EGG PRICES. IT WAS NINE IN THE HOUSE.

HOUSE BILL 402 WOULD PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL $12,500 STATE INCOME TAX DEDUCTIONS FOR THE GROUP. HE SAYS MANY OF THEM ARE ON FIXED INCOMES AND THIS WOULD HELP THEM DURING THIS TIME OF UNCERTAINTY.
