ENFIELD — Fifth grade teacher Sheree Winans says there were three people in her life who taught her the valuable lessons that she tries to instill into her students at Prudence Crandall School. It's these lessons — beyond math and science — that have garnered her the district's teacher of the year award for 2024-25. A native of Enfield, Winans is her 33rd year of teaching in the Enfield school district, starting her career as a third grade teacher at Henry Barnard School.

ENFIELD — Monday was Steven Moccio's first day in the superintendent's office, where he'll be facing the challenges of leading a system that has had financial issues and staffing losses. “I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that I’m honored, privileged, and excited to begin this work in Enfield," the superintendent said about his new job. Moccio said he's been preparing for the new role over the past few month.

ENFIELD — L.L. Bean has opened its doors for a soft opening before its grand opening celebration Oct. 4. The store, located in Brookside Plaza at 10 Hazard Ave., is currently open limited hours from noon to 6 p.m.Jason Sulham, L.L. Bean's manager of public affairs, said the soft opening will "allow our team to pressure test systems and fine-tune the experience ahead of the official grand opening scheduled for Oct. 4," he said.
