June 24, 2025 By JOSH FRIEDMANSan Luis Obispo police arrested a gas station clerk who allegedly sold tobacco to a minor and was in possession of methamphetamine last week. On Friday, detectives conducted an operation in which a supervised person under the age of 21 tried purchase tobacco products. At about 11:30 a.m., the minor went with detectives to the Chevron gas station in the 12000 block of Los Osos Valley Road.

Shortly before 7 p.m., 245 customers in San Luis Obispo County lost power in southeast Atascadero near Heilmann Park. The cause of the outage remains under investigation.

June 22, 2025 By KAREN VELIEMore than 3,300 PG&E customers in San Luis Obispo County are without power on Sunday morning because of 14 separate outages. While the cause of one of the outages is under investigation, 13 of the outages are planned public safety power shutoffs. Because of high winds and dry conditions, PG&E turned the power off for 2,998 customers in northern SLO County on Saturday afternoon to help prevent wildfires. PG&E estimates power will be restored by 11 a.m. on Sunday.

David Hong teaches 7th and 8th grade math. Parents have voiced concerns that he wrote a song about the girls in his class and gave his phone number to students. Hong has worked for the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District for nearly six years. He allegedly had similar issues at a previous job.
