In every book lies a new adventure. Ten-year-old Surena has a stack of books to check out from the Okanagan Regional Library that will take him to outer space and back. "I like to read science, space and some graphic novels," said Surena. Alongside his Grade 4 class from the Balsam School, Surena is signing up for the library's Summer Reading Club, with goals bigger than his stack of books. "At minimum, [I plan to read] more than 1,000 pages and more than 100 books," said Surena.

An apparent road rage incident that came to a destructive conclusion on Highway 97 was caught on camera. A car appearing to cut off a truck, all captured on dashcam video by a DBI Transport truck that was following behind them - and carrying a modular home on Wednesday morning. "The car passed the truck, I stayed in the right lane, they started bobbing and weaving," said Spencer Throne, a DBI Transport driver.

For his 101st birthday, Arpan Szentpronai is gaining a fresh perspective. The centenarian, taking flight, was carried by a parasail as his friends and family cheered him on from the boat. His daughter, Sue Tarrant, says she isn't surprised her father has bested the Canadian life expectancy by 20 years. She says he has always been a survivor. "He just keeps going - he's an amazing man, he is just very resilient," said Tarrant.

On the steps of the Central Okanagan United Church, bells are rung 100 times. Each ring a symbol for every year the church has been in Kelowna, B.C.Leading the bell-ringing celebration is volunteer Beryl Itani, who has been a member of the church for 26 years. "It's 100 years of celebrating what we believe of as Christians, and it's 100 years of being together - some of those 100 years have not been good but we still have something wonderful to celebrate," said Itani.

As the mercury rises in the Okanagan, so do anxieties as wildfires tear through the Prairies. West Kelowna fire chief Jason Brolund, however, says he and his crew are prepared but not worried. "We are ready. Our level of preparedness is as high of a level as it's been and we will take these fires as they come," said Brolund. With the West Kelowna Fire Department set for duty, they are asking the public to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
