RCMP received a threat regarding the Kamloops Court House at about 9 a.m. Thursday. Police evacuated and closed off the court house. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to stay away from the area. More to come.

RCMP received a report of a bomb threat at the Kamloops Law Courts just before 9 a.m. Thursday. Mounties and the BC Sheriff Services, shut down and evacuated the courthouse, pedestrians and motorists were also told to stay away from the area. The Police Dog Service Unit, along with a bomb-sniffing dog searched the entire building and found no explosives, said Const. Sofie Winkles. The courthouse was re-opened to employees and the public by 2 p.m. Police are still investigating the threat.

Multiple emergency crews are on the scene of the Sandman Hotel on Enterprise Way after several people complained of possible carbon monoxide exposure. There are reports of people throwing up and being forced to evacuate the building. Fire crews are going through the building floor by floor to locate the issue. At least three ambulances are on scene and a staging area has been set up in the parking lot. FortisBC has also been called to the scene.

Update: 12:00 p.m. Kelowna fire crews have cleared the building, but are still investigating the source of the irritant. No one is being allowed back into the building yet. At least two people were attended to by paramedics, but they did not require further treatment.

Six underweight German Shepard mix puppies are now in the care of the BC SPCA after their owner surrendered the dogs to animal protection officers on June 10. The owner of the seven-month-old puppies had been trying to rehome the animals following an accidental litter, according to Eileen Drever, senior officer of protection and stakeholder relations for the BC SPCA.
