Midway clinched its spot in Saturday’s final at Dell Diamond by taking down Prosper in a hard-fought Game 3 last week. Their next opponent, the Atascocita Eagles, was a team that mirrors the Panthers in more ways than one.

AUSTIN, Texas — If there was any fear from dropping last season's state championship game, the Midway Pantherettes did not show it on Saturday. Midway won the 6A D2 state title, 9-1, to claim their first softball state championship since 2010. Sophomore pitcher Peyton Phillipp shined, throwing the a full gam, recording 11 strikeouts and only allowing one run.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Lady Indians of Riesel High School softball faced Ganado High School for the UIL 2A DI State Championship title under the sun in Austin, Texas. The Lady Indians got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first inning. With two on base standing at second and third, senior ace and University of Arkansas at Monticello commit, Kyleigh Benton blasted a two run RBI single to give Riesel the lead.

Now that the Blazers have already had a weeks worth of practices in the books, head coach, Tremaine Jackson, and his guys know just how crucial these practices are especially with 60 new faces added to this years roster. Thankfully with their returning leaders, who have been with coach Jackson for the last three years, they are continuing to keep this team on track.
