The theme for the 37th Midwest Black Family Reunion Aug. 14-17 will be "Everlasting Endurance." The annual event is a celebration of Black families. "We as a people have had to endure a lot, and we've lasted, so 'Everlasting Endurance' just speaks to the resilience of our people," says Tracey Artis, executive director. "It speaks to the fact that we're still here.

Meals on Wheels of Southwest OH & Northern KY plans to begin work this fall on renovating a former car dealership into its new headquarters and operations center. The organization has been working out of a building it says is way too small for demand. CEO Mike Dunn says the organization produces more than a million meals annually in its current building, which is designed to produce 300,000 meals. The new space will be a 51,5000-square foot facility across 7.5 acres.

From Friday night displays at Great American Ball Park to Fourth of July parties and community festivals, fireworks are a staple of summertime festivities. The night skies might be a little less colorful — and certainly more quiet — this summer as the cost of fireworks, ahem, skyrockets. The Trump administration's current tariff on goods from China stands at 145%, and some fireworks factories in China have begun shutting down.

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is preparing to open its first new permanent exhibit in 15 years. "In This Place" is meant to be both an introduction to the Freedom Center and a tribute to all of the freedom seekers who crossed into the North via the Ohio River. "It is an immersive experience that helps ground visitors to the Freedom Center in why our place is so significant," Whitney Owens, interim vice president of exhibits and collections, tells WVXU.
