KALAMAZOO, Mich. — It's recruitment season for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS), and the department is looking to fill dozens of open positions as it faces a wave of retirements. KDPS currently staffs 243 officers but is authorized for up to 268. That leaves around 20 vacancies—many of which stem from recent retirements, recruitment leaders say.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — America's pastime is coming to life in a new exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. Just in time for the Detroit Tigers and West Michigan Whitecaps' home opener, Play Ball! will open just in time for the start of baseball season. The exhibit displays 1,200 autographed baseballs featuring signatures from players past and present. The collection spans over a century, from 1901 to 2020. The collection was donated by longtime Tigers fan Steve Nagengast and his wife, Mary.
