ADA, Mich. — In a warehouse on Amway's massive Ada campus sits dozens and dozens of toys among Amway's typical assortment of products being ready to distributed. Those are Toys for Tots toys, ready to be distributed this December. Last year, Toys for Tots lost the ability to use their previous storage location. After putting feelers out, organization leaders say Amway stepped up to help.

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — Three local bands will take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium this week in Indianapolis as Bands of America Grand Nationals kicks off Thursday. The Reeths-Puffer, Jenison and Rockford marching bands will be among more than 110 bands competing this week from around the country. Every year, the competition brings some of the most premier marching bands in the country to Indianapolis. 13 ON YOUR SIDE was able to catch up with members of the Reeths-Puffer marching band.

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — A local Kent County veteran, who was once in a tough position himself, is now working as a Veterans Services Officer at Kent County Veterans Services. Reginald Farrior left the service with a disability years ago, he said. Originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Farrior came to Kent County for family reasons. He was working a different job when one day he said the business shut its doors, leaving him in a tough spot.

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — It's now more than 10 years since Robert Smedley was medically retired from the military. But the days after he returned to normal life he says were some of the toughest. "In the military, you have a lot of support structure, you know, you have battle buddies," said Smedley. "You know, people you work with. You can rely on them. You have medical, you have systems in place within the military programs, mental health professionals, you name it.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A new program is helping first graders in West Ottawa Public Schools learn how to ride a bike, while also learning valuable skills. The Panther Fund, a group that helps provide financial assistance and equal opportunities for students at West Ottawa Public Schools, along with West Michigan organization Velo Kids, is providing the lessons for all West Ottawa first graders.
