CACHE, Okla. (KSWO) - The now-former Cache teacher who was terminated from her position after a lengthy board meeting Tuesday, July 16, is speaking out. Kelly Jenkins’ employment with the district was the subject of the contentious meeting that lasted the entire day. Testimony was heard from school officials calling for her termination, and witnesses supporting her role in the school. The board ultimately voted to fire her. Speaking tonight, Jenkins says she was surprised by the termination.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - While we are still safely in the summer break, it won’t be too long before public schools across Southwest Oklahoma open up their doors for the fall semester which could cause some teachers and students anxiety in getting completely ready for the classroom. And some local organizations are coming together to help calm those anxieties. 7News Anchor Tarra Bates was a former public school teacher for 10 years, with five of them being in Texas and the other five in Oklahoma.

FORT SILL, Okla. (KSWO) - Friday, an all-canon live fire was held on post to celebrate the 249th birthday of the U. S. Army!No need to blow out the candles when there are cannons, right? It happened earlier in the morning, near the 52nd Street Gate. It was open house and no visitor pass was required. Everyone from civilians, veterans and city leaders was on point for the birthday recognition.
