MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Public Schools Accountability Act is advancing in the state legislature. If passed, it would create a state oversight board for Memphis-Shelby County Schools. While both the House and Senate versions are being considered, they differ in scope. The House version targets MSCS only, while the Senate version would apply to school systems statewide.

Following the floods, the level is over 20 feet and growing, causing concerns for the greater Mid-South. MONETTE, Ark. (WMC/Gray News) - A longtime resident of Monette, Arkansas, says a severe storm has left him without a home. “It just cleared everything in five minutes,” the Monette homeowner said. The 97-year-old, who did not share his name during an interview while checking the neighborhood, said a tornado tore through not only his home, but the entire community. “I was sitting in my house watching it. It sounded like a motorboat,” the 97-year-old added.
