MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Months after Dr. Marie Feagins’ removal from the Superintendent position, MSCS has eliminated one of the initiatives under her administration. According to MSCS, the previous MSCS administration implemented an initiative to recognize attendance “champions and winners” in a format similar to an academic honor roll or dean’s list. As part of the initiative, honoree lists were publicly posted every 20 days beginning October 22, 2024.

Agents with the 29th District out of Dyersburg served a search warrant on April 15 at a private residence on Wabash Circle. On April 15, officers responded to an aggravated assault call regarding a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male victim was grazed by a bullet in the back of the head, leaving a bullet still inside. MPD says that the victim was dropped off at the emergency room by his brother for treatment.

84-year-old senior missing after leaving home, police say

According to MPD, Jessie Mooddy, 84, left her home on Bluebell Road on the afternoon of April 14; she was driving a 2011 Cadillac Sedan. Moody’s daughter filed a missing person’s report with police. Masked suspect on the run after bank robbery, Oakland police say

OAKLAND, Tenn. (WMC) - The Oakland Police Department is reporting that a suspect is on the run following a bank robbery. Around 10:20 a.m. on April 14, the Bank of Fayette County, located at 3155 Highway 64, was robbed. The suspect was waiting in the parking lot for the tellers to bring the cash drawers out to the ATM, and when they did, the male suspect dressed in all black with a black mask on approached them and demanded the money.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Animal Services officially reopened to the public Saturday, April 12. While they are welcoming visitors for adoptions, fostering, lost and found services, and owner reclaims, dog intake will remain closed until further notice. According to MAS, they are still testing dogs for illnesses, including PCR testing, which detects whether a dog is actively shedding the distemper virus, which caused MAS to close for the past month.
