FLORENCE, Ky. — When you walk inside the Brighton Recovery Center, there is a memorial wall dedicated to those who have died from drug overdoses. "Most of them, we got to know them, their families came and visit, we got to know their children," said Janie Hamilton, director of recovery services at Brighton Recovery Center. Hamilton and other staff are helping 70 women who are 18 and older fight addiction. This recovery center in Florence will be their home for six months to two years.

CINCINNATI — It's been nearly five years since Caracole, a non-profit that works with those living with HIV, has installed its harm reduction vending machine in Northside. It started as a free service during the pandemic and is still going. "This vending machine is decreasing stigma," said Caracole director of prevention Suzanne Bachmeyer. There's everything inside, from safe sex protection items to safer smoking kits, including two forms of Narcan.

COVINGTON, Ky. — The American Red Cross has opened five shelters across the Tri-State for flood victims. Angel Webster was told to evacuate her mobile home after receiving a knock on her door from the Covington Fire Department. "I just watched the water. AURORA, Ind. — Businesses and residents in downtown Aurora, Indiana are facing the reality of potentially record-high water levels. A major roadway in Aurora, which sits along the banks of the Ohio River, has been shut down as water levels continue to rise Sunday. The Dearborn County Sheriff announced Sunday that the bridge at State Route 350 near US-50 is closed until further notice due to high water. CINCINNATI — Two local organizations have united to empower young people through mental health support. “We are here to serve our kids, and we want to help them reach their best point,” said Caroline Hils, manager of school-based behavioral counseling at Best Point Education & Behavioral Health. You may know the campus on Madison Road as the Children’s Home of Cincinnati, but today, it’s known as Best Point Education & Behavioral Health. “We are still serving kids in our community," Hils said.
