Changes on a portion of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lehigh County are scheduled to take shape in 2028. Over 150 people attended an Open House Public Plans Display recently at Emmaus High School concerning the total reconstruction and widening plans for the Milepost A48 to A53 Project. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission plans to reconstruct and widen the Northeastern Extension (I-476) from Milepost A48 to Milepost A53.

Along the way, local musician James Supra has somehow found the time to garner a whole slew of accolades. Originally from western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, Supra moved to Palmerton in early 2022. Initially, he moved to the Lehigh Valley in 1982, where he soon began to pursue his musical career and honed his musical skills.

A Slatington man has been charged with homicide after admitting he killed and dismembered a man in the basement of his residence, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper John Snyder and Trooper Taylor Dietrich of Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M, Bethlehem, in the case against Joshua Moser: Around 1:30 p.m. May 13, troopers were alerted to a person missing under suspicious circumstances. David Hittinger, 37, had not been heard from since around 7 p.m. May 11.

Last year, Roeder was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the fourth annual Art with a View fundraiser at Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton. A Palmerton resident for more than 40 years, Roeder took up painting to “share her pleasure” with those around her when she retired from teaching English in the Northern Lehigh School District.

A modular home in Lehigh Township was destroyed after a fire broke out Jan. 21. Lehigh Township Fire Commissioner Rick Hildebrand said the dispatch call came in 12:48 p.m. for a fire at 4180 Heritage Lane, also known as Heritage Village. “Upon phone calls to 911, the house was well involved,” Hildebrand said. “There were injuries reported at the scene, with one person laying on the ground.” Hildebrand said two residents who were home at the time of the fire were injured and taken to the hospital.
