    Metallix Refining, a Shrewsbury, New Jersey-based precious metals recycler, has launched the APR4 Advanced Pyrolytic Reduction furnace, which it says builds on the success of the APR3 furnace. Developed by Metallix processing engineers and technical specialists, APR3 and APR4 feature two oxygen-starved, continuously fed furnaces that thermally decompose materials in a controlled environment using indirect heat to recover precious metals.

    The New York State Department of Environmental Conversation (DEC) has announced the results of the recent CleanSweepNY collection events in DEC’s Region 3, lower Hudson Valley. Held during the week of May 12, the annual event collected more than 222,000 pounds of chemicals for safe disposal from 179 participants. “Effective collection programs like DEC’s CleanSweepNY make it easy for New Yorkers to discard of unwanted or expired chemicals and pesticides,” DEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton says.

    Ace Green Recycling Inc., a Houston-based provider of battery recycling technology solutions, has announced its signing of a collaboration agreement with Enecell, a lead battery recycler based in Perth, Australia, to advance battery recycling opportunities in Australia. As part of the collaboration, Ace has secured a master offtake agreement whereby Enecell will sell 100 percent of its recycled lead material from its battery breaking recycling facility in Perth, Australia, to Ace for resale.

    A study released by London-based Systemiq claims that Europe could reach a tipping point for textile recycling where recycling polyester through depolymerization becomes more competitive than producing virgin polyester. According to Systemiq, depolymerization output could grow nearly tenfold by 2035 if policymakers and brands invest in infrastructure and long-term demand.
