    A local coffee shop is giving crafters a space to socialize while working on projects every Monday. Starting on June 2, NautiMi on the River in Pinckney will move an existing stitch and craft group from Wednesdays at 1 p.m. to Mondays at 6 p.m. The business is located at 260 McGregor Road. The original timeframe made it difficult for crafters with traditional 9-5 jobs to attend. By moving the group to Monday evenings, owner Melissa Kunnert hopes more people will be able to participate.

    A local man sentenced to at least four years in prison for shooting at his fleeing wife and children will face trial for another assault charge in July. The Daily does not identify victims of domestic violence, and is not identifying the man because it could identify his family. According to an incident report filed with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office in December 2023, a woman called central dispatch to report an assault that happened earlier in the day.

    LIVINGSTON COUNTY — The trial for Devoted Barn owner Melissa Borden has been re-scheduled for a third time. Borden is charged with abandonment/cruelty to 25 or more animals, punishable by up to seven years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. Borden was originally scheduled for trial Feb. 5 before Judge Suzanne Geddis in Livingston County's 44th Circuit Court, but the date was pushed to April 28, then again to May 23. That trial will now be on Monday, June 2.

    LIVINGSTON COUNTY — The trial for a local murder in August 2023 has been pushed for the third time. It's now slated to take place in early November. Reese Hammie, 24, is accused of killing Michigan State University student Oghenevwede (Wede) Okagbare in Howell in 2023. His trial was originally scheduled for Sept. 16, 2024, in Livingston County's 44th Circuit Court before Judge Miriam Cavanaugh, but was pushed to Jan. 13, then again to May 12. It's now scheduled for Nov.
