After 25 years, Xcel Energy Center will be getting a new name. The existing naming rights agreement for the downtown St. Paul arena will come to an end this summer, the NHL's Minnesota Wild said in an April 15 news release. Xcel Energy, a Minneapolis-based energy company, will continue to be a "major community and business partner" with the Wild, the news release says.

Central Minnesotan baseball and softball teams have logged several results on dirt and area lacrosse teams played their first games from April 6-12. Local track and field and tennis athletes continued to post impressive results, some track athletes already earning enough medals to make Michael Phelps jealous. Several are clocking personal best times.
